Proud sponsor of Team Yquem at prestigious Great Lakes sailing race
| July 28, 2016 – Tulsar Canada will be proudly flying high above the prestigious Canada’s Cup yacht race. The Kitchener, Ontario-based designer and manufacturer of custom panels to control water and wastewater levels is sponsoring Team Yquem, a Canadian-owned boat that has been lent to the Youngstown Yacht Club at the mouth of the Niagara River on Lake Ontario, as it competes in one of the most prestigious sailing events in North America at Toronto’s Royal Canadian Yacht Club in September.
“Tulsar Canada are experts at helping our clients find water solutions, so it made sense that we would look to a sport that is on water when it came time to build our brand,” says George Micevski, President of Tulsar Canada Ltd. “We are aggressively moving Tulsar forward, and setting sail for a new adventure.”
Tulsar’s name and logo are spread across the Yquem’s jib, helping it gain speed as it takes on the Royal Canadian Yacht Club’s Team Hollandia, a four-time world champion that won the right to defend Canada’s possession of the Canada’s Cup. The Canada’s Cup is a friendly competition between a Canadian and an American yacht club on the Great Lakes that stretches back 120 years. Often referred to as the Grand Dame of the Great Lakes, this year’s 24th Canada’s Cup challenge is the first since 1955 that features the International 8 metre class.
The Yquem is a three-time winner of the Eight Metre World Championship, and has been a European and North American champion. It was prepped for the Canada’s Cup entirely by its team — Skipper Adam Burns supported by Flipper Wehrheim, Eric Voss, Jimmy Carminati, Ryan Suitor, John Goller and Jason Suitor — depending largely on donations such as the sponsorship from Tulsar.
